Guy Davis is a great blues musician preserving a distinct and important art form. In July 2015, I attended his blues guitar workshop at Common Ground on the Hill. After class, I played a song for him to get his advice. He said, “Have you ever heard of Josh White?” Josh White was a popular blues artist in the 1930s and 40s. He was blacklisted in the 1950s, but he eventually returned to popularity and appeared on mainstream television. I really enjoy Josh White’s chord progressions and style of play. Thanks for the advice Guy. | |
